ABOUT ME: NAYO CAMPBELL

 

Hello!! And Welcome to my Website!

My name is Nayo Campbell and I am a 2018 graduate of Howard University with a B.A. in Media Journalism and Film. At Howard, I graduated cum laude, and I was an active student on campus. I served in a variety of student associations, such as being a member of the Freshman Leadership Academy, Alternative Spring Break, Reporter and Former General Manager for the Spotlight Network, member of the Entertainment Power Players(EPP), Chapel Assistants, and I am also a member of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority Incorporated, Alpha Chapter.

I also completed a summer abroad studying Spanish at Universidad Del Mar, in Oaxaca Mexico during Summer 2016. I have a vast array of skills acquired from various internships within the communications realm including, news, editorial, media relations, social media, blogging,  have prepared her to take on any position.

This website is dedicated to keeping you in the know with everything Nayo Campbell past to present! Currently, I am the first ever Digital Reporter and Producer for the Utah Jazz. At the Jazz, I create content that travels outside of the world of basketball covering our team, the people within the organization and the community! This website is dedicated to all of my content!

 

Some of my professional experiences outside of the Jazz include interning at Radio One in Silver Spring, WUSA- 9 the CBS Affiliate in Washington DC, and I was the Entertainment Intern for the Washington Wizards. I also freelanced for TheGrio.com, NPR-YR Media, and WHUT-TV in which I have had the opportunity to cover numerous events as a reporter.

In regards to reporting, I have had the opportunity to cover many high-profile events such as Kennedy Center Honors, Bet Awards, Black Girls Rock!, Essence Festival and Afropunk.  Furthermore, I have the opportunity to interview many public figures such as Congresswoman Maxine Waters, Radio Legend Donnie Simpson, Grammy Award-winning Singer Miguel, LL COOL J, and many more. My interviews can be found on both my Youtube page  “Meet The People” and Howard University’s  student-run Television Network Spotlight TV. 

 

I ultimately aspire to combine my writing, editing, directing,  and speaking abilities in preparation for a career in entertainment news and as an actress within the film industry. I hope to work fulltime as an entertainment reporter for either a digital outlet or a smaller market television station.
